Skills Support for the Workforce
in the Black Country

Over £10 million is now available for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Black Country to access training.

Delivered by Calderdale College and working through a network of locally based, professional training providers, our Skills Support for the Workforce project offers fully funded training to help SMEs fill skill gaps, raise productivity and boost business growth.

We can help businesses develop and implement bespoke training programmes, which will help to meet their growth ambitions by satisfying their workforce’s immediate and long term skills needs.

Range of courses to suit most needs


If you’re an SME based in the Black Country, you may be eligible for free training through the Skills Support for the Workforce project. Focusing on intermediate, technical and higher-level skills, these training courses will be useful to current and future supervisors, managers and senior managers. Training is funded by the European Social Fund and the Skills Funding Agency.

Small to medium-sized businesses in the Black Country operating in one of the sectors listed below, seeking training to support a business growth plan.

  • Environmental technologies

If you’re eligible, one of our skills solutions designers will visit you to carry out a training needs analysis. We’ll then get to work designing and delivering your training plan.
