Walsall based health care company Upward Care provide an alternative to registered residential care by utilising care and support pathways to support people to reach their potential. They have accessed fully funded training through the Workplace Learning programme to upskill their staff through JT Development.
10 members of staff undertook a level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care. Deborah Ashton is a Care Worker at Upward care, the training has had a positive impact on her job role, “The Workplace Learning programme has enabled me to become Level 2 qualified in Health and Social Care and has given me the confidence in my own ability and been able to demonstrate the requirements of a qualified Care Worker.
“I work various shifts and weekend patterns and through this qualification my Assessor has been happy to be flexible about these arrangement and be available when I have been working on shift to observe and support me through this qualification.”
As a result of the training Deborah has progressed to a more senior role, “By undertaking this qualification I have been promoted to supervisor and I am now undertaking my level 3 qualification to support my promotion and the senior work I am undertaking in my role. I am more confident and delighted that I now have this qualification.”
