Visitor Economy

Visitor Economy can cover a range of jobs and careers in areas such as tourism, food and beverage services, hospitality and more.

Tourism in particular is the UK’s fastest growing sector, and is forecast to be worth £257 billion by 2025.

As an example, York welcomes 6.9 million visitors every year, with these visitors contributing £564 million to the York economy.

To be part of such a growing and thriving industry, it is important that your business’ skills needs are met.

The Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) programme offers a range of free training courses to help your business stay ahead. The programme’s expert partners work with employers to identify their current and future skills needs, and put together a comprehensive training needs analysis.

Skills training can be offered in a variety of areas related to Visitor Economy such as Beverage Services, Food Production and Cooking, Hospitality and Catering Principles, Understanding Customers and Customer Service, and more.

Alternatively, there are courses available to benefit your business in a variety of ways such as social media skills, media and marketing skills, or leadership and management.

Delivery takes place on site or at employer premises at a convenient time to suit the business and participant.

This is fully funded and supported by the European Social Fund, with no cost to the employer or employee.
