Struggling with staff retention rates and wondering how to take a business forward in terms of growing revenue are tricky challenges to navigate as an SME. However, these are challenges that skills training can help to address.
Lee Harris-Hamer, Managing Director of White Horse Cleaning Services, a commercial-based cleaning company in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, found himself faced with these challenges. So when he noticed an advert for free training from the Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) Programme on social media, he saw this as his opportunity to tackle his problems head on.
Lee’s staff took several fully-funded training courses including Award in Industrial Environmental Awareness, Certificate in Principles of Business and Admin, Certificate in Customer Service and Certificate in Team Leading.
Not only do staff now feel more confident in their job roles, which has helped to improve staff retention, but Lee has also been able to reward and promote employees thanks to their new skill levels, and has even grown his business’s revenue by 134%.
