If you’re a hospitality business based in a thriving city centre, it’s only natural that you’re going to come up against a lot of competition. Not only this, but with hospitality being a very busy and faced-paced environment to work in, it’s often difficult to find time to train staff properly.
Paul Gardner, landlord of The Terrace, a pub in central York, understood these problems first-hand. He wanted to set The Terrace apart from the other 14 pubs on the street by investing in his staff’s skills to give them more confidence in their roles, helping their interpersonal skills to shine through, and allowing them to establish a loyal customer base.
Paul found out about Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) and was introduced to Tim at D C Training, one of SSW’s dedicated training providers. Tim was able to use his expert knowledge to help Paul identify which courses would have the biggest impact on his team, as well as making sure that training was flexible around staff rotas.
Through SSW, staff at The Terrace undertook fully funded training in Hospitality and Catering, Industrial Environment Awareness, Team Leading Principles and Personal Licence Holding.
